Arachne
Arachne was a great mortal weaver who boasted she was a greater weaver than Athena,goddess of crafts. Athena visited in disguise and warned her to not offend the gods. However,Arachne scoffed and wished for a contest.
Athena dropped her disguise and the contest began.Arachne's work was very good.Athena wove the scene of her victory over Posieidon in the city of Athens.Athena was mad at how good she was, and probaly her choice of subjects(the infidelities of the gods).She started beating Arachne.Arachne refused to bow her head,so Athena turned her into a spider.
